8/28/13 Poetic Asides Prompt: a vision poem

This week’s prompt at Poetic Asides was posted on the anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech, delivered at the 1963 Washington, D.C. Civil Rights March.  Our prompt was to write a “vision” poem describing our own dream.  I wrote the following as a Fib poem, the definition of which can be found at About.com.

A Visionary Fib

One
voice
opens
the doorway
to conversation
and we agree to disagree
about our differences and how to work with them
so that, in the end, we approach each other with mutual respect and dignity.
