Writer’s Block

Written for the 9/1/13 The Sunday Whirl Wordle 124 – A dozen poetry prompts: scarlet, close, feathery, hole, sparks, sway, oiled, shoots, inky, doubt, lost, wet

Writer's Block

Inky fingers write
feathery phrases
like a well-oiled machine.
But fear this wet spring of words
will dry out and close the hole
where a poem shoots out from the pen,
holds sway on the imagination.
The scarlet sparks that fuse the muse
are lost forever to doubt.
