Hiding Courage

Poetic Asides November 2013 Poem-A-Day Challenge – Day 24: a poem that responds to a quote

Hiding Courage

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” – Anais Nin

Hiding
in the safety
of limited boundaries
enables fear of the unknown
to leave roads unexplored.

Courage
cannot be found
behind closed doors or drawn blinds.
To disable apprehension,
it must first be engaged.
