My Twitter profile best describes me:
An aspiring beach bum with a love of jazz and an overwhelming need to write poetry.
This website is where I act out my need to write poetry. My interest in playing with words began in the 60’s (yes, I’m THAT old) when my ten-year old brain came to the realization that my favorite band (The Beatles) wrote their own songs. The concept fascinated me and it wasn’t long before I started writing my own lyrics. A short time later, when I got my first guitar, I added music to the mix (or as much music you can add when you only know three or four chords). As the years went by and it became painfully obvious that I’d never be the latest singing/songwriting sensation to grace the cover of People magazine, I began concentrating on the written word. Over the last several years, I’ve written a novel, a poetry collection, a haiku collection and a children’s book.
To satisfy my love of jazz, I ran a radio station at Live365 called Sooze Jazz Joint. To shift my focus more toward writing, I closed down the station just before Christmas of 2013.
As to the “beach bum” thing … I’m working on it!
I am currently taking university-level courses through The Saylor Academy. The programs through Saylor do not offer degrees, but the experience and the knowledge are, for me, their own rewards.
My guilty pleasures include playing video games, planting roses that never grow, and addictions to “The Big Bang Theory”, “Major Crimes”, “Scorpion”, “Elementary” and coffee.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, I still make Charm City my home. I am owned by two cats, a black Labrador and a Basset Hound. Life is good.
Thanks for visiting my poetry place. I hope you find something here to touch you, move you, or simply enjoy. Say “hello” below or drop me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org.
